Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) is a set of networking protocols that permits networked devices, such as personal computers, printers, Internet gateways, Wi-Fi access points and mobile devices to seamlessly discover each other's presence on the network and establish functional network services. (Wikipedia).
BPQ uses UPnP to open ports that need access to the Internet without needing access to the ISP Router. This may be useful when access to the Router is limited. It depends on UPnP being enabled in the Router.
UPnP is configured by adding UPNP statements to the main section of bpq32.cfg. Format is:
UPNP UDP|TCP, External Port, [Internal Port]
if Internal Port is omitted the External port is used. Eg
UPNP UDP, 10093
UPNP TCP, 8081, 8080
The first opens UDP port 10093 and forwards to the BPQ machine port 10093
The second opens TCP port 8081 and forwards to the BPQ machine port 8080
You can have as many UPNP statements as you need.
BPQ will delete the port mappings when it closes
