The author reveals for the first time a systematic planning of pre-historic trackways, and throws a flood of light on the evolution of defensive camps, the sites of castles and churches, and the meaning of place names. The volume is copiously illustrated with many delightful photos taken by the author, who is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society.
