THE LAMANCHE ZODIAC

by KATHRYN JAYNE PRESTON.

No doubt you will have read about or heard of the number of terrestrial zodiacs which have been discovered in Britain.  To add to the already long list, I have discovered yet another which I have named The Lamanche Zodiac.  The derivation of the name is from the three counties across which it spans, LANcashire, Greater MANchester and CHEshire.  Unlike all previous zodiacs discovered, this one is based on a straight line rather than the usual circular or elliptical configuration.

Firstly I will relate to you how it came to be discovered.  I began looking for ley-lines on the O.S. 1:50,000 map covering the Preston area where I live and my research group, PULSE, operates.  PULSE stands for the Preston Ufological & Leyographical Society & Expedition.  One of the ley-lines which I found runs the full length of the map (N–S at an angle of 29° E of N).  I found that it continues in both directions onto adjacent sheets, Northwards through Chapel Island in Morecambe Bay and on through to the Lake District, and Southwards through Bolton, the west of Greater Manchester, Cheshire and into Staffordshire.  If it is extended further southward it may pass through both the Banbury and Kingston zodiacs.

While searching for further ley-lines around the Bolton/Anglezarke Moor area (an area of intense UFO activity), I noticed that some of the churches in Bolton appeared to be in the same configuration as the stars in the constellation of Leo the Lion.  I then checked to see if I could find the other eleven zodiacal signs.  I found them to be winding about the aforementioned ley in a 61 mile length from just north of Preston to an area north-west of Congleton, Cheshire, in the correct sequence from Aries to Pisces.  One unusual feature of this discovery is that my own Sun-sign (Taurus) covers the area in which I live, and my Ascendant sign (Leo), which is the most prominent sign in my Birth Chart, was the first sign I found.

As I have said previously, the stars of the twelve signs are represented by churches and other “ley” points.  I have found no outlines of the characters yet, as in all the other zodiacs, but that is not to say they don’t exist.  Because of the representation of the stars, I believe that this zodiac was laid down during the Great Age of Cancer, the Druid era, ie, between 8640 & 6480 BC.  It is possible that the Round Loaf, the largest tumulus in the North West of England, which is sited in the sign of Cancer (Anglezarke Moor) is symbolic of this.  It is a very important tumulus, having at least 22 ley-lines terminating at it, but very little is known about its history.

Bob Lord’s Pendle Zodiac, at its closest point, is a mere mile and a half away from the Lamanche Zodiac, his Virgo being near my Gemini, which is to the South west of Blackburn, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio {50} and Sagittarius are around the western edge of Manchester, while Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces are in Cheshire,

As the name of my research group suggests, we deal with the UFO phenomena and its connection with ley-lines, etc.  I recently marked the most well known zodiacs on a map along with the regions in which some recent UFO “flaps” have occurred.  Some of the main areas of intense UFO activity are close to areas in which zodiacs are known.  A good example of this is “The Pennine Run”, the area surrounded by Bolton, Halifax and Blackburn, which is between two zodiacs, Pendle and Lamanche.  East Anglia is also an area of major UFO activity, and there are at least two zodiacs there, Nuthampstead and Bury St. Edmunds.

Of course, a great deal more work has to be done, both on the zodiac and on the link between Ufology and Leyography.  If any readers have any theories, I will be pleased to hear from them.  I think that this an avenue of research which has been largely neglected, which is why I have taken up the challenge.
