Photo of the goddess figure at Wandlebury

Is she DOOMED?

The photograph above is one which was taken of T.C. Lethbridge’s excavation of the Gogmagog mother goddess effigy at Wandlebury during the work in the 1950s.  It has since become damaged by visitors, has been ignored by its owners, and is listed on official plans of Wandlebury as “Lethbridge’s Diggings”.  Clearly this state of affairs cannot be allowed to continue.  The society which now owns the site has blocked IGR attempts to get something done, including offers of cleaning it free of charge.  The second issue of ALBION , the national magazine for enquiry into the ancient mysteries of Britain, carries an article, lavishly illustrated with original drawings, photographs and maps, and including recent pictures of the present sorry state of the site, documenting the sad tale of professional neglect and personal rivalry which has led to the destruction of a great British antiquity.

Also in ALBION, the Norwich Snap-Dragon, the Monument of Odin, Hertfordshire alchemy and much more.  Only 50p (incl. postage) from IGR.
