Konrad Zuse.
I had vistited Hinterstein over a period of several years before I learned
that Konrad Zuse had lived there. This plaque on a house says:
"Here, from April 1945 to October 1946, lived Konrad Zuse, the inventor
of the world's first programmable computing machine. In Hinterstein he also
completed his programming language "Plankalkül", the world's first high level
programming language. Konrad Zuse was also active in Hinterstein as an artist.
He painted and sketched here, and created numerous pictures and woodcuts
of the Ostrach valley."
