Trier is famous for Romans, Churches, Wine and Marx. There are a few photos of the
first three here. Karl Marx gets his own photos elsewhere on this website.
Kaiserthermen. The Imperial baths from the 3rd century CE.
Weinschiff. The tomb of a Roman winetrader shows a barge for transporting wine
barrels along the Mosel. This replica is in front of a wine bar. The original is in the
Landesmuseum in town.
Churches. St. Gangolf's, Liebfrauenkirche, Dom.
Cathedral. Trierer Dom.
Porta Nigra, main market square, lanes behind the cathedral, Domfreihof.
Kurfürstliches Palais and Palastgarten.
Vineyards: Tiergartental and Longuich.
The Mosel runs from France, through Luxembourg and Trier,
and joins the Rhine at Koblenz
(whose name is from Latin (ad) confluentes: "at the confluence of the rivers".)
Other stuff in town.
Markets.
My favourite café in town: Café 1900.
University grounds.
A couple of other places near Trier.
