Biography
Steven is a graduate of the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London and Queen Mary University of London, in the sciences, where he was awarded both academic and musical scholarships. Steven furthered his musical studies at the Royal College of Music where he gained an MSc in Performance Science with Distinction and has since begun an MMus in Performance at Royal Holloway University of London in order to continue professional development. Research interests span the realms of music education, musicology and the science of music. They include the relationship between formal and informal learning, musicians' wellbeing, and the interplay between identity construction and educational contexts. Currently studying piano with Richard Deering, Steven regularly performs solo and chamber repertoire, with first place prizes at a number of musical festivals across London and the South East in recent years. His performance repertoire is eclectic spanning classical, jazz and popular styles, as appropriate.
