H.B. MARAJAH GARDENS on which our leave was spent. (The gardens consisted of two empty whisky boxes on the front of the boat converted into flower boxes). All cooking was done on a cook-boat moored aft (nautical) of the houseboat, both of which were kept spotlessly clean. The sun deck normally sported a canopy but this photograph was taken after a particularly heavy squall which brought down the supporting structure. We had to pay rent for the site on which the houseboat was moored although we failed to understand how anyone could claim to own a particular piece of water in the middle of a lake.
